The Oil and Gas Industry is a service of great significance, as the fuel provided to consumers is essential. Shortages of fuel, or its complete absence, can strain and even bring the economy to a halt. Therefore, service providers have established large storage terminals next to refineries to store the fuel. Fuel is distributed from these terminals to gas stations by tanker trucks. During these transfers, both centrifugal and positive displacement pumps are used depending on the viscosity.
Fuel refilling pumps are specifically designed for each area of application. The transfer of fuel from large depots to tanker trucks, and then to gas stations, and eventually to the end-users' tanks, is the duty of the pumps. For diesel fuel, pumps without ATEX classification can usually be used; however, areas requiring explosive protection may arise at storage terminals. In the case of transferring other fuels at storage terminals, pumps suitable for the ATEX areas specified by the customer should be used.
